Artist Bio:
Many words come to mind when the hip hop/rock-based group ‘MicLordz & Sauce Funky’ are mentioned: “energetic”, “professional,” and “charismatic” to name a few, but one word that truly stands out is “success”. The ambitious group fully invested themselves in the art of music and in return they received the respect and appreciation of their audience.

The MicLordz quickly became a favorite of promoters opening for hip hop greats such as KRS-One, Jadakiss, Obie Trice, Proof of D-12 & K-OS to name a few. They released their debut album ‘Family Tree’ in the spring of 2006 through Indie Pool nationwide (Canada) and worldwide via CD Baby. While achieving early success, the MicLordz made a commitment to push their music to the next level. The MicLordz expanded to a five piece group and added the name Sauce Funky. In 2006, MicLordz & Sauce Funky began polishing their new found sound, and began touring across Ontario, Michigan, Ohio & Illinois consistently.

In 2007 the MicLordz & Sauce Funky we’re invited to perform and attend the prestigious Canadian Music Week festival. One month later the MicLordz & Sauce Funky won the Canadian Organization for Campus Activities (COCA) battle of the bands giving them the opportunity to headline a showcase for all Canadian College and University program directors. The summer of 2007 proved to be a fine tuning period for the MicLordz & Sauce Funky. They began recording at the nationally renowned Metalworks Studios in Mississauga, Ontario. The MicLordz & Sauce Funky started off 2008 by writing and recording what would soon be their sophomore album. Late February was a large stepping stone for the group as they headlined a two week spring break club tour in Panama City Beach, Florida. They followed their success on the road by attending and performing the Canadian Music Week festival for the second consecutive year. During this time the MicLordz & Sauce Funky were also featured in large media outlets such as the National Post, CBC 2 Radio & HipHopCanada.com. The MicLordz & Sauce Funky entered Detroit’s New Rock Alternative 89X (88.7 FM) battle of the bands. This gave them much deserved exposure in the Detroit area as they made the Finals. This battle got them a spot on The 89X Homeboy Show, which showcases all the up-and-coming bands from the Detroit area. MLSF was honored as they played tracks from “Sunset Ammunition.” The next day the band got numerous myspace comments and emails of new fans in the area.

They were featured on a Comcast TV Show “City Beat” (DE, PA, NJ) and their song “Roll With Me” was selected as the theme music on another TV show from the same network called “Checkpoints.” In December, the band was chosen as the featured artist on www.seejoerock.com. They also did a small regional tour (Michigan, Ohio) with recording artists Psychostick and had a feature article in the Real Detroit magazine. The article talked about the groups growing popularity, and gaining recognition from their second to none live show in the Michigan region.

MicLordz and Sauce Funky continue to perfect their live performance which focuses on delivering maximum entertainment to their fans. With all of their musical talent and dedication its only a matter of time before they will be taking it across the world. The future looks bright and the hard work is paying off.
