The Stillwater, OK based quartet has been making music together for the better part of a decade. Though broadly influenced, The Flatland Travelers conjure up a lethal mix of funk, blues, rock, jam, jazz and soul. The Travelers feature a very dynamic and diverse rhythm section with Dylan Cahwee on drums and Ryan Linden on bass. Guitarists Sam Naifeh and Chris Bell bring a classic blend of blues and rock inspired riffs and improvised solos. Bell takes the forefront vocally, with harmony-filled support from the entire group. Their live show can feature well over four hours of original music, quality jamming, as well as the occasional, tasteful cover. In December 2009, the group released their debut album entitled “Between the Tracks and the Runway“. The album was recorded and mixed in five days at Bell Labs Recording in Norman, OK. Producer and engineer Trent Bell has worked with numerous accomplished artists, including: The Flaming Lips, Stardeath and the White Dwarfs, The Starlight Mints, Steve–n- Steven, Taddy Porter, Watermelon Slim plus many notable others. Garrett Haines, chief mastering engineer, at Treelady studios in Turtle Creek, PA, also worked on the record. Haines’ work has been recognized nationally, including a 2008 Grammy Ballot Nominee for Watermelon Slim and the Workers, for Best Contemporary Blues Album. In the past six months The Flatland Travelers have been spending the majority of their time promoting the new record on the road. They also are constantly writing and perfecting new material.
