Chicago rock duo Blackbox (which is Damon Ranger, and Gregg Potter) have won an EMMY from the National Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences. The award was in the performance category 20c, and Blackbox's live performance of the Cheap Trick classic "He's a Whore" won. Legendary Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, who joined the due onstage for their performance which aired on CBS March 27th, 2009 won an award as well. The team paired up for a Chicago Grammy Chapter event at Columbia College, and closed out the night with a live performance for the "Grammy U" program. 2009 has been an amazing year for Blackbox, along with winning the Emmy, they were handpicked to tour the Midwest on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour on the Kevin Says Stage, handpicked to kick of Riot Fest, played the Lollapalooza Artist Lounge, played two nights at Summerfest (the world's largest out door music festival), and have shared the stage with Eagles of Death Metal, The White Tie Affair, Lupe Fiasco, Ratt, Butthole Surfers, Billy Squier, Malik Yusef, and more in the past 10 months. Blackbox is honored to share this win with one of their hero's, and is looking forward to making the rest of this year just as amazing.
